Welcome to The Narratives Project: Education-Focused Careers at St Andrews

Education-focused career paths are a relatively new and evolving trajectory within academia, distinct from traditional academic routes. Unlike their more linear counterparts, these careers often take diverse forms, with each one of us carving a unique path. From scholarship of teaching and learning to service, leadership, and outreach, the variety is a strength, but it can also make it challenging to navigate and define success.

This website is dedicated to celebrating the diversity within education-focused careers. Through narratives shared in the form of podcast interviews, we aim to share positive stories that showcase what these careers can look like in their many forms. By hearing from colleagues across the University of St Andrews, we hope to provide inspiration, insight, and a clearer sense of how to shape and grow in these roles.

Importantly, this project is about fostering connection within our community. Too often, education-focused staff work in disciplinary silos, unaware of the incredible work happening across the university and the community support on offer. By sharing our experiences and learning from one another, we hope to contribute to the vibrant, supportive network of education-focused professionals within our University.
